How Did I Get Lyme Disease?

Lyme disease is transmitted through the saliva of a Tick. The Infected Tick has to Bite you for the bacteria to enter your bloodstream.

In most cases, it is the small or immature "nymphs" that will infect humans.  The Tick is just a carrier of the disease.

You may be unknowingly infected if you live in an area of recorded cases. The north eastern side of the USA, and neighboring Canadian provinces show the highest risk areas.

On a world scale, the spread of tick is recorded most often in the temperate climates of the northern hemisphere.

Tick are everywhere but not all ticks are carriers. You could just be spending time outdoors in your garden, walking your dog in the bush.

This is not a contagious disease. You can only contact the condition from a Tick Bite, not another human.
